Fracking Leads to Highest U.S. Oil Production

American oil production totaled 64,000 barrels a day last week, as the growing business of hydraulic fracturing of shale rock propelled U.S. output to its highest level since 1988.

According to a report by Bloomberg, shale drilling is pushing the U.S. toward becoming independent of foreign oil.

U.S. production has grown by 18 percent in the past year, and has reached its highest output in 25 years.
