Keystone XL: To Be or Not To Be?

Amidst a long wait and after a long push for the Keystone XL Pipeline approval, TransCanada has asked the US government to temporarily put its review of the project on hold temporarily, while it negotiates with Nebraska over the piece of the route that goes through the state.

The delay in the review of the project means that it may even be put into the hands of the next US president. Another complication has to do with the victory of Canada’s Liberal Party, which put Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in power. Trudeau has voiced being in support of the project, but not as strongly as his predecessor, who said in regards to the project, he “wouldn’t take no for an answer”.

The future of Keystone XL at this point may seem weary now, but it remains to be seen.
